Jane Eyre is the most famous work of Charlotte Bronte, who is considered as an extraordinary woman novelist. The masterpiece Jane Eyre symbolized a new era in the history of literature. It made women have awareness to be independent and fight for their rights. This awareness is called feminism. Nowadays, feminism is valued by more and more people. Feminism means that women should enjoy equal social rights with men. It is the product of modern enlightenment movement and the women''''s liberation movement. Feminism has extensive cultural connotation, involving politics, economy, law, education, religion, ethics, and other fields. It is still important in our daily life. So this article is aimed at explaining feminism in Jane Eyre.

Although Chinese women''''s social status has changed dramatically with a series of legislative regulations about equality between men and women, the discrimination that lasts thousands of years still affects people''''s perception, consciousness and behavior.

Therefore, gender discrimination still exists in our daily life, especially in some poor and remote areas. For instance, in most families, women are regarded as housewives. They should cook for their families, clean their house and so on. However, men don#8217;t need do these things. So, it is high time to make women realize the feminism consciousness.

This paper mainly focus on the feminism consciousness in Jane Eyre by analysing the personality of Jane Eyre, especially focus on the views of love, equality, self-respect, and independence. By this way, I hope to help modern women realize the feminism consciousness and encourage them fight for feminism .

Jane Eyre is the most famous work of Charlotte Bronte who supported women movement at that time and it symbolized a new era in the history of literature. It made women have awareness to be independent and fight for their rights. So, when it was published, it caused a sensation. Scholars at abroad and home have made researches about this book from the characters of Jane to the enlightenment for women.

At abroad, many scholars have made research about Jane Eyre, such as Gaskall, he made specific research about Charlotte Bronte in 1992. From his article -- The life of Charlotte Bronte, we found that Jane Eyre is the most famous work of Charlotte Bronte. It brought about a completely new concept of marriage and the value of life. Marriage should be based on true love, equality and respect rather than social ranks, materials or appearance.
